October 2015 UK Glossybox

Happy Saturday everyone! I don’t know about you but for me this month has flown by and I was not expecting to have my Glossybox delivered this week. This month we have the autumn edit which contains five full sized products worth over £82 to help brighten up this dull month, so let’s have a look at them.

Lanolips – Golden Ointment Dry Skin Salve £17.99

This was the first thing I opened just because of the sheer size of the box, which is pretty big compared to the product inside. Anyway, this is a brand that I have heard of but never really tried anything from them. The main ingredient in this is lanolin which if you didn’t know is the oil secreted by sheep’s skin which turns out to be an amazing moisturiser and also contains a percentage of manuka honey. This is an extremely thick substance, I tried it on my hands and I did not like the feel of it at all – because I put it on the palms of my hands, it left a horrible residue. That being said, I tried it again and didn’t put it on the palms of my hands and it is extremely moisturising and lasts a really long time on the skin. I also tried this as a lip balm and it works really well.

Nicka K – Airbrush Blending Sponge £6.50

At first glance I thought this was an actual Beauty Blender…but it’s not. This looks interesting and I really wanted to try it out this morning but I wanted an unsullied photo of it for this post! I have been using the Real Techniques sponge for well over a year now and it’s the only thing that I use to apply my foundation so I’m intrigued to see how this one will perform. The sponge itself feels a lot heavier and has a more closed texture than the Real Techniques one so maybe it won’t absorb as much foundation? I’ll keep you posted on how it goes 🙂

Talika – Photo-Hydra Day £24.85

Every moisturiser I have received from Glossybox I have actually liked and I’ve used this twice now and so far so good. It has a light gel like consistancey and has a delicate fresh fragrance that isn’t overpowering. This product claims to deeply moisturise and contains hyaluronic acid to plump the skin. Interestingly, this moisturiser ‘uses energy from natural light to delve deep into skin and moisturise it’ I need to have a look into that because I really don’t know how that would work. This makes a good foundation base and foundation doesn’t ball up like it can with other moisturisers I’ve used

So Susan – Haute Light Highlighting Pencil £15.00

 so susan pencil

I am so happy I got this pencil, I was looking at buying the nyx Wonder Pencil literally this week as I wanted a flesh coloured eyeliner because white looks a bit strange on my colouring. At first I thought this was going to be similar to benefit High Brow but it’s a matte pencil so I’m pleased. This is lovely and creamy and really pigmented. It claims to be a multi use pencil and it contains ‘white truffle extract and Eyeseryl peptide which helps reduce eye bags and increase skin elasticity’ personally, I wouldn’t use it under my eyes but it looks great in my water line.

Jelly Pong Pong – Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara £17.95

Hmmm, this product looks quite cheap so I was surprised to see the £17.95 price tag! I am so fussy about mascara and especially the wand and this has the traditional bristled wand which I don’t like, I much prefer the plastic spiky wand. Still, I tried this out and it doesn’t do much for me, I have a good curl to my lashes anyway and this doesn’t add any volume or length. However – this is amazing for lower lashes! It makes them look so full and feathery and is really easily apply so all is not lost.

Overall I am really happy with this month’s box, so far the products have performed really well and you may see them again in a Hits and Misses post soon. Have a good weekend and I will be back soon ❤
