Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil Review

Hello everyone! I’m sorry it’s been so long, I’ve been really busy and I haven’t had much new stuff to share as it’s coming up to holiday season so not much money to spend on makeup. However, as I was running out of my Urban Decay Brow Beater and I had seen so much about Benefit’s huge new brow collection, I thought I would give one of them a go.

I’m sure I’m not alone here, but filling in my brows takes so long which is why I chose the Goof Proof Brow Pencil. As it had a different shaped tip to the super skinny pencils I am used to, I had the impression that this pencil will fill in the bulk quickly but the skinny tip will add definition where needed.

I think Benefit have done a great job on the colour range of their new brow product, but I did have to search online for swatches as I couldn’t make a decision based just on the pencils, for reference I bought shade 2 as I have a dark to light blonde ombré.

So let’s get into packaging, the outer box has the usual consumer claims as with all Benefit products and has a new illustrated character which looks like a magician’s assistant. The product itself looks like a baton and has faceted ends which cap in the product on one end and a spooly on the other. It’s cute, it’s typical Benefit and it stands out in my makeup collection.

The price of this product is £18.50 which for me is a little steep when you compare the the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer which is a similar product and costs £16.00. I got this on offer from http://www.lookfantastic.com so I paid around £14.00 which I was ok with.

The first time I tried this product I thought it was ok, I got the definition I wanted and it did fill in my brows quicker than a skinny pencil. The colour was good and the texture was soft but waxy enough so it doesn’t slip all over your face. The second time I used this I noticed that it was getting more difficult to use as the pointed end had blunted. The third time I ended up with awful brows and it has been that way since. I cannot get the definition I want as the ‘pointed’ end has blunted and the only way I can get it a little better is by rubbing it at an angle on the back of my hand and waste loads of product. As you can see from the pictures, I just have a blob of pencil 😞

I was looking forward to using this product so much and it has really disappointed me. I saw so many people raving about it, read loads of first impression blog posts but it really doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t add any shape and I end up being frustrated with the end result. I’m so glad I didn’t pay the full price for this! I received a sample of this product today so here are some comparison pictures between new and 5 uses

    1. Yes! It’s not just me! I saw so many people raving about it and I was like why won’t it work 😫 I’ve just been scraping it on s piece of paper so it has a bit of shape back now, wasted loads of product though 😞 x

  1. I was looking at Benefit’s new collection and chose their skinny brow pencil over this because I figured that would happen to me. I always naturally make anything retractable angle off, until I get a product that’s meant to do that. This product felt way too thick for getting nice brows.
