Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I am sharing with you my thoughts on the not so new Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. When I found out that Urban Decay were releasing a full coverage, long wearing foundation, I knew I had to try it out. If you’re a regular reader, you will know that I have super oily skin and I am on th hunt for the perfect foundation. Urban Decay have claimed that this is a super long wearing, waterproof formula that is full coverage but doesn’t look cakey. It hides imperfections and has a matte finish. I’ve been using this product daily for around 3/4 weeks so I can now give you my full thoughts on how this performs.
First up is packaging, the outer box is a beautiful metallic gun metal grey which matches the bottle of the foundation. It has an airless pump (thank you for the pump!) and contains 30ml of product. The only fault I can pick with the packaging it that it looks messy quite easily due to the glossy metallic finish.
Formula wise, this has a pretty thick liquid / cream consistency and one pump really does cover your whole face with some to spare. You can apply this quite quickly as it blends really easily and you can stretch the product out over a larger area of your face with one small dab of product. You get full coverage with one layer which is pretty awesome.
However, if you have dry skin, this foundation is not gong to be your friend. I have oily skin and this shows dry patches on my face that I don’t even have. When I have finished applying the foundation and move into my concealer, the foundation has already cracked in my smile lines as it’s set and I can’t get it to blend out. Over the course of the day this cracking gets worse and it makes me look older than I am. As I have oily skin, I get oily throughout the day and if I try to blot, the foundation comes straight off no matter how gentle I am. If instead of blotting, I carefully apply a small amount of powder, I can salvage the foundation – just.
I have tried this with several primers, even with no primer – don’t use it with no primer! And every time, I just get an average look. It really isn’t the foundation that I thought it was going to be and I won’t be repurchasing it. I know a lot of people have heard problems wit it oxidising so I made sure I bought a light shade (shade 1.0) so I didn’t have any problems with this but I can see that if you’re not aware of the colour change, it can cause problems.
I will continue to use this product up as it’s not completely awful, now the weather is changing my skin isn’t quite as oily so I don’t need to blot but the hunt for the perfect foundation continues. Next up on the list is Kat Von D Lock It Foundation.
Have you tried this product? Let me know your thoughts. Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤
