Managed to get through quite a bit throughout January! I’m trying my best to use up as many products as I can before buying new ones. My stash is diminishing slowly, which is what I want, so I can start focusing on buying products that I really want.
Starting with skincare empties I have Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment. Now, this was the first retinol product I have ever used so I eased myself into it slowly and carefully and I didn’t get any irritation at all. I got up to using 3 times a week, alternating with an exfoliating acid and to be honest, I didn’t notice any difference in my skin. Due to the price of this, it’s not something that I would buy again.
Next up is the Multi-molecular Hyaluronic Complex from NIOD. I’m not sure how I felt about this. I used it when my skin was feeling tight / dry and it left the skin feeling slightly tacky but for hydration, I didn’t find it any more effective than a moisturiser. There’s a product similar to this from The Ordinary which I think I’m going to try next instead of buying this one again.
Lastly for skincare is Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. I used this as a morning serum and it was nice but I noticed no difference whatsoever in my skin so not something I’ll be buying again.
Moving onto haircare, first up is Wella Brilliance Treatment, this product is beautiful. I used this every time I washed my hair (only a small amount) and my hair always felt more manageable, soft, less prone to breakage and tangling, and lastly, smells incredible and lasts in the hair a really long time. Love this, need to get another one.
From Philip Kingsley I used up a mini Elasticizer, this is one of them products that you get in beauty boxes quite a lot but to be honest, I don’t think it’s very effective and I think it’s a bit overkill using a pre shampoo treatment, a decent conditioner/mask will do the job. I used it up because it was there but it’s not something I’d go out and buy.
The final product for hair is the Mythic Oil by L’Oréal Professionnel. I love hair oils, I’ve noticed such a difference in my hair since using oils instead of serums. This one wasn’t my favourite as I didn’t like the smell that much but it’s a nice nourishing product. I’d maybe buy it again but I think I’m probably going to stick with Morrocanoilfor the time being.
For my makeup empties this month, I firstly have Beauty Pie Great Skin Foundation. This foundation is one of the best I’ve ever used. It gives great coverage, lasts all day and is super cheap. I have a full review on this product which I will link below but it’s something that I’ve already repurchased and will continue to.
I’ve actually got through a primer! Laura Geller Spackle Tinted Primer in Bronze has been a steady product in my makeup routine. It’s similar to Becca Backlight Priming Filterin the sense that it adds a subtle glow to the skin and it can be worn without foundation to add radiance but because the packaging is a tube, it doesn’t feel as fancy as the Becca one but I do really like it. I’m thinking of buying this again in the Champagne shade.
L’Oréal make my favourite mascaras and the False Lash Architect was one I haven’t tried before as I’ve steered away from natural bristle brushes for years, so on a whim I picked this up and I am so glad I did. It’s a very volumising, almost clumpy mascara with a drier formula that I love! I’ve been asked on many occasions if I’m wearing false lashes when I’ve used it. Will be repurchasing this soon.
Lastly for my empties I have two hand creams. The first one is from The Body Shop and is the Almond Hand & Nail Cream. It was ok, quite thin and moisturised but not for long. Wouldn’t repurchase this one.
The one that I will repurchase is the Rituals Ginko’s Secret Hand Balm. Regular readers will know that I am a very big fan of Rituals products and this one does not disappoint. A lot of people will think it’s just a hand cream but it has this almost balmy texture that creates a bit of a film on the skin and it locks in moisture. It smells divine as I’d expect from Rituals and is something I need to get a back up of!
So that’s my first empties of the year. What products have you guys used up this month? Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤
