Buxom Customisable Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hello everyone! I have been wanting an eyeshadow palette that I can use everyday and contains all the colours that I want for so long. Whenever I wore eyeshadow, I’d always have to grab colours out of a few different palettes and it just wasn’t convenient at all. When I saw that Buxom was being released in the U.K. I was so excited and knew I had to give some of their products a go.

I looked through the ready made palettes but decided that I would choose some colours of my own and make my own perfect everyday palette.

You have to buy the palette and eyeshadow separately and when you buy the palette and 6 shadows, each cost £8.00 each but when you buy them together in the same transaction, it comes to £36.00 which I think is a bargain for 6 full size shadows at 1.4g each plus the palette.

Buxom eyeshadow palette

The palette itself is beautiful. It’s a robust black plastic with a croc design on the front with the Buxom logo in gold print. To put the eyeshadow in, you slide out the drawer and click the shadows in. It’s a really sturdy design and the shadows are in there securely which is great if you want to use it while travelling. This was the only palette I took on holiday recently and it survived!

Buxom eyeshadow palette

Onto the eye shadows. As I said, I wanted one palette that I can use everyday and not have to grab others. I only use minimal eyeshadow on a daily basis so the shades aren’t that adventurous!

Satin Seduction – this is a beautiful frosty champagne shade.

Buxom satin Seduction

Champagne Buzz – similar to Satin Seduction but has more gold and pink in it.

Buxom champagne buzz

Glitz Factor – this is a peachy gold colour that reflects more pink in certain lights.

Buxom glitz factor

Famous Flirt – I thought this was a matte but it’s more of a satin. It’s a very light peachy shade.

Buxom famous flirt

Lingerie Lover – this one is a matte mid purple with a hint of grey.

Buxom lingerie lover

Gimme Gorgeous – lastly we have a mid toned matte neutral brown.

Buxom gimme gorgeous

Top to bottom – Satin Seduction, Champagne Buzz, Glitz Factor, Famous Flirt, Lingere Lover, Gimme Gorgeous

I have to say, I was really surprised with these shadows. They are highly pigmented, blend very easily and last a really long time on the eyes even without a primer. I have had zero fallout with the shades and have been using them everyday since I got them around two weeks ago.

Didn’t think I would say this but I actually prefer these over Urban Decay shadows which have been my favourite for well over ten years. I love the affordability, the shade variation and the quality of the shadows. I will definitely be buying more and building more palettes!

Becca Backlight Priming Filter Review

Hello everyone! So, this is a product I never thought I would buy. I have oily skin and a glowy primer is something that I’ve never thought of buying. However, I got a sample of this in a Tili box a while ago and enjoyed it so when I saw a bundle deal on QVC containing this product, I thought it was time to treat myself 😉

Becca backlight priming filter

I know I am really late to the game on this but I wanted to give my thoughts as someone with oily skin. Here are Becca’s claims for this product –

“More than just a primer, it’s the secret behind the iconic Becca glow. Infused with three unique Filtering Luminescent Pearls, each one adds a different drop of diffused light. Blended together, they result in a first of its kind, lightweight, whipped fluid that creates a smooth canvas and acts as an instant filter. Blurs imperfections and gives skin a healthy, luminescent glow.”

The packaging of this product is beautiful. The outer box has a subtle metallic sheen to it and is simple in design. The bottle is a lovely frosted glass with a hardened plastic lid and metal logo on the top, really simple but elegant at the same time. It comes with a pump (got to love a pump!) and contains 30ml of product. It’s available to purchase from http://www.cultbeauty.co.uk and http://www.qvcuk.com (Cult Beauty has free shipping on Becca during June)

Becca backlight priming filter

When you pump the product out it has a whipped, very light texture and it looks very shimmery. It blends into the skin effortlessly, almost like a moisturiser. When you blend it in, the shimmer diffuses and is pretty undetectable on the skin. It has no chunky glitter in it, it’s very subtle but it leaves the skin looking fresh and awake. It has a delicate slightly powdery scent, it’s nice but not amazing.

Becca backlight priming filter swatch

Becca claim that this product blurs imperfections which I disagree with. I have acne prone skin and normally have a few spots on my skin and this does nothing to hide them, but I didn’t expect it to as in my opinion, this is a product to enhance the skin and make it look more awake.

Becca backlight priming filter swatch

I have been using this product everyday for a few weeks now under my trusty Lancôme Teint Idole which is a full coverage matte foundation and it adds a subtle luminosity to the skin and helps make it look less flat matte if you know what I mean. It doesn’t make my skin overly oily – which I thought it would – and to be honest, I have found that my foundation looks better for longer when using this.

I reallly didn’t think I would like this product as much as I do! It makes my skin look like skin when I have a heavier foundation on. It’s pricey at £34.00 a bottle but it feels so luxurious I think I can see past that!

Have you tried this product? What were your thoughts on it? Thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon ❤

La Roche-Posay Rosaliac CC Creme Review

Hello everyone! Regular readers will know that I have pretty awkward acne prone skin but lately it has started to clear up and the need for full coverage foundation has reduced. I have been looking for a BB or CC cream to use on the days when my skin is looking good and I didn’t want to use full on foundation so this is the one I chose.

La Roche-Posay is fast becoming my favourite skincare brand. I’ve been using their products for years but they are becoming staples in my routine and when I need a new product, they are the brand that I go to first. This CC cream is targeted for people that are prone to redness and have underlying sensitivity – which is me! It comes in a 50ml tube and retails for £19.50 which is a little steep in my opinion but you do get a good amount of product.

La Roche Posay rosaliac cc creme

Here are some of the brand’s claims on the product –

“A universal tone that blends naturally into fair to medium skin and instantly conceals to correct all shades of redness. Glides quickly over skin, streak free.”

Ok so as always let’s start with packaging. The box is standard La Roche-Posay, white with black text and accented with blue. It’s not something that is super pretty but it’s a pharmacy brand so I don’t expect it to. The product itself is a pretty sleek tube that you can squeeze but the best part is – it has a pump!

La Roche Posay rosaliac cc creme

The product is a lot thicker than I thought it would be and it has the consistency of a foundation. It has a scent to it which is quite fresh, it’s not overpowering but I’m not sure why they have included scent in a product for sensitive skin. It has an SPF of 30 which is amazing as we are coming into summer, I wanted a higher SPF than what is in my moisturiser. I apply this using a dense buffing brush and it does glide over the skin really easily and leaves the skin with a healthy glow – it’s not a matte product.

With reference to coverage, this does not cover all redness. If you only have a little bit it may cover, but if you have rosacea it won’t completely cover. I have been using this as a base and then applying powder foundation over the top and that has been the best way to use for me as it doesn’t give enough coverage on its own.

My big let down for this product is the shade. The “universal tone” is not universal at all. I have fair / light skin and when I use this I top it off with a fair powder foundation. It will look ok and then by the time I have driven to work it has oxidised and it leaves a visible orange tint to the skin, it’s a full on seam where the product ends even though I have blended it down my neck.

La Roche Posay rosaliac cc creme

I am pretty torn with this product, I like how soothing it is when you apply and it’s a great base product with a high SPF but the shade is difficult to work with. If I have used a little fake tan I can work with it but I don’t always want to tan! I will continue to use when I have used tan but I wanted something that I can reach for regularly. What is it with brands and universal shades??

Have you tried this product or have any recommendations for a BB / CC cream? Let me know in the comments. Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤

NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex Review

Hello everyone! So by now I’m sure most of you have heard of The Ordinary skincare which offers great quality products that are extremely affordable due to them being stripped of all the added extras which then enables you to customise which ingredients you want to use on your skin. The Ordinary is owned by a company called Deciem which also own a range of companies, including NIOD.

NIOD is the big sister of The Ordinary, it offers the same simplistic style but has more added ingredients in their product making them more in line with higher end skincare. Today I am sharing with you the Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex which I have been testing out for a few months.

NIOD multi molecular hyaluronic complex

I do like the packaging of this product, it’s simple monochrome but I like the added detail that instead of opening the top, you slide out the side of the box and the product is neatly housed in a shaped board. The product itself is in a brown glass bottle with a black pipette and keeps with the same monochrome theme with the product label.

NIOD multi molecular hyaluronic complex

Here are NIOD’s claims for this product – “A multidimensional approach to topical hyaluronic supplementation, this advanced serum combines 12 forms of hyaluronic compounds in a peptide-charged delivery system to offer visible hydration, visible plumping, comfort and the look of dermal uniformity.”

This is the thinnest serum I have ever used, it’s literally like applying water to the face. I found that applying it straight from the pipette to areas of the face and then massaging it in was the best way to apply as when dispensing it into my hands, it ran everywhere and became quite messy.

It’s a clear liquid that has a slight scent to it, it’s not fragrance but it’s not the nicest smell to have in skincare.

NIOD multi molecular hyaluronic complex

Upon application it’s very cooling and absorbs very quickly and has a slight tightening effect to the skin. I always follow this up with a moisturiser and my skin feels very soothed and plump after use.

I have combination and dehydrated skin and have found that this offers great hydration without the heavy dense feeling that a lot of hydrating products can give. Due to my awkward skin type, I need extra hydration but can’t deal with rich creams so this has been a great alternative. Below are images of my hands showing one straight after application of the product and the other with no product at all. I’m not sure if you can see but the skin looks more smooth and uniform and a lot more plump.

No product applied (looking dry!)

Overall, I do like this product. It’s a little expensive at £25.00 for 15ml but if you get the 30ml bottle, it costs £38.00 which is a really great saving.  This is available from http://www.niod.com and http://www.lookfantastic.com

Have you tried any NIOD products? What were your thoughts on them? Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤

Tili Box 4th Edition Unboxing

Hello everyone! Today we have my unboxing of the latest edition of QVC’s Tili box. I have been looking forward to this box so much, this is the fourth box that has been released and I have never been disappointed.

Tili 4th edition box

For £20, you get 10 products, one of them being a full size OPI nail polish so you really are getting great value for money. Unlike most beauty boxes, the Tili box is not a subscription service so you only buy it if you want it. Tili are also transparent with what you receive as they show you every product before the box releases. Let’s get into the products!

Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose – 50ml

Alpha h Liquid Gold rose

This product was the first item shown on the sneak peek for this box and I knew immediately that I was getting this box! I really like the original Liquid Gold so this limited edition rose version intrigued me. It contains the cult favourite formula but is infused with additional botanicals and rose to also offer hydration. I’ve used this once so far and even though I use a glycolic toner regularly, this one really tingled! It made my skin feel amazing the following day so I will continue to use. The rose edition has not been released anywhere else yet so it’s great to try out early!

Ultrasun Face SPF 30 – 25ml

Ultra sun face

I love how an SPF has been included in this box. If you’re using an AHA product like Liquid Gold, you need to be protecting your skin with SPF the following day (you should be using SPF everyday anyway!) I’ve not used this yet but I think it’s a great size to keep in your handbag now that the weather is slowly getting warmer so you can top up throughout the day.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – 30ml

Liz Earle Cleanse and polish

This is one of them cult products that it seems everyone has tried apart from me! I have stopped using foaming cleansers and moved into creams as they are much gentler on the skin. I have a lot of redness that I found was being aggravated by foaming cleaners so really happy to try this one out. This product has a very interesting scent, it’s not something I’ve smelt before in skincare. Looking at the ingredients I think the scent is coming from the eucalyptus oil, so I’m hoping this won’t irritate my skin. You also get a muslin cloth included to ‘polish’ the skin when using.

Erno Laszlo Hydra – Therapy Cleansing Duo – 15ml & 17g

Erno laszlo cleansing duo

This is an interesting little set. At first glance it looks a little like hotel toiletries but it’s actually a double cleansing kit containing a cleansing oil and cleansing bar. The two products are designed to be used together, apply the oil (don’t rinse) and then lather the bar and mix the two products together. I’ve not seen anything like this before and I can’t remember the last time I used a soap bar on my face so this will be interesting.

it Cosmetics CC+ Cream – 4ml

It Cosmetics cc cream

This is a product I’ve wanted to try for so long but it Cosmetics is not readily available in the U.K. and I didn’t realise you could buy their products on QVC. You get the shade medium which clearly isn’t for everyone but I’ve tried it out and the coverage is really incredible for a CC cream. It’s incredibly light weight and feels like you have nothing on which is surprising considering the amount of coverage you get. I think once my current CC cream had run out I’ll be buying this one.

Benefit Rollerlash – 3g

Benefit Rollerlash

I do like Benefit mascaras and this is one I have tried before. I love the plastic brush and it really gets into all of your lashes. It’s a great size to try out and to be honest, I find these little sample tubes last just as long as a full size mascara.

Vita Liberata Ten Minute Tan – 20ml

Vita Liberata ten minute tan

I’m not massive into fake tanning but I do have a few products all from Vita Liberata and I love them. This one I have not tried before, you apply it and then rinse it off after 10 minutes and then the tan develops over the next 4-6 hours. I was a little unsure of this when I first saw it but thankfully it’s got a guide colour so you can see where you’re applying.
Julien Farel Vitamin Shampoo & Conditioner – 50ml Each

Julien farel Shampoo conditioner

I have not heard of this brand before but I do like getting this size of samples to take away with me on holiday etc. These products contain hyaluronic acid which is a great hydrating product used in a lot of skincare so it’s interesting to see this in a hair product.

OPI Fiji Collection Nail Polish – Full Size

Opi Fiji collection living on the bula-vard

Lastly we have a full size nail polish from the SS17 collection. You get a random colour in your box and I was sent the shade Living On The Bula-vard! which is a bright, almost neon, orangey red. I’m a big fan of OPI so really happy to receive a colour from the latest collection.

That’s all the products in this box. Another great selection and I can see myself using all of these products. I think my favourites are definitely the Liquid Gold Rose and CC+ Cream. This box is available now on http://www.qvcuk.com

Thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon ❤

March & April 2017 Empties

Hello everyone! Today we have all the products that I have use up over the past 6-8 weeks and as always, a mini review and whether I’d buy the product again, let’s get started with skincare.

Empties 2017

Vichy Pureté Thermale Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil

I know I sound like a broken record with this product but it’s amazing and the only product I use to remove my makeup.

Repurchase? Yes!

Simple Spotless Skin Face Wash

Another product that I have used for a very long time, this face wash is great for spot prone skin. I have however stopped using this one as I’m moving away from using foaming cleansers on my face but this is a good purse friendly wash.

Repurchase? Not at the moment

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Nuit

I regularly use the Toleriane range and during this winter, my skin started to get pretty dry and I started using this moisturiser during the day. It’s very soothing and effective, contains no fragrance and is an effective basic moisturiser.

Repurchase? Yes

Vichy Liftactiv Supreme

I wasn’t too keen on this product, firstly because I don’t like products in pots and secondly as I found it very heavy and greasy. Didn’t notice any improvement in my skin whilst using it so not something I would buy in full size.

Repurchase? No

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

This isn’t empty but I just don’t like it! I bought it as it has a similar texture to the body sorbets which I love but I found that this made my skin drier and the fragrance is very overwhelming. It’s nice and cooling on the skin but it dries mine out unfortunately.

Repurchase? No

Empties 2017

Étre Belle Golden Skin Roll On Caviar Eye Gel

I like roll on eye creams / gels in the morning as they are cooling and help reduce puffiness but this product is very thin and just does nothing. It has some shimmer in it to brighten but the particles are quite big and they are noticeable. Not for me.

Repurchase? No

Oskia Renaissance Mask

This is a lovely resurfacing and brightening mask but I really don’t like the price! I’ve recently written a full review on this product which I will link and the bottom of this post.

Repurchase? This is a tough one. Yes as it’s effective but no because of the price!

Poläar Lip Balm

This lip balm is ok but it tastes very perfumey so you have to apply it very thinly and make sure none goes in your mouth! I think there’s better balms on the market which aren’t heavily perfumed so this one is a miss.

Repurchase? No

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Levres

Talking about better balms on the market, this is one of them! Absolutely love this balm, it’s the most effective balm I have ever used, it actually repairs the skin on the lips, has no fragrance and it is thick enough to not slide off after a few minutes of wear.

Repurchase? Already have!

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation

I hated this product with a passion when I bought it and never thought I would finish the bottle! However, I ran out of foundation and had to use this one while waiting for my normal foundation to be delivered and I ended up getting on with it. It wasn’t so great that I’d go out and buy it again in a hurry but it worked ok during colder months.

Repurchase? Probably not

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder

This is a decent setting powder that adds a small amount of coverage and doesn’t leave the skin looking powdery matte. Not much to say about it other than it’s an ok product.

Repurchase? Maybe

The Balm Schwing Liquid Eyeliner

I much prefer pen style liquid eyeliner but this one is good, highly pigmented and stays on all day. If this was in pen form I’d buy it again.

Repurchase? No

Empties 2017

Urban Decay Brow Beater

Another product that you will have seen many times on my blog, this is the only product I use to fill in my brows. Great colour, very precise and lasts all day.

Repurchase? Already have

Urban Decay Brow Tamer

I really liked this but I have been using a £4 Rimmel one that does just as good a job so it’s not something I’ll repurchase at the moment.

Repurchase? Probably not

Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer

I’m not a big fan of Benefit to be honest. I find that none of their products work for me and I end up being frustrated that I’ve spent a lot of money on products that I don’t end up using. To me, this is just a thinner texture of the mascara in the range and in brown. I liked it but it’s just brown mascara!

Repurchase? No

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lip Velvet – 10 Don’t Pink of It

An amazing product if you want a longer lasting matte lipstick that doesn’t fully set and dry on your lips. I’ve recently been wearing more liquid lipsticks but I’m edging back to this style of formula as I’ve gone off the fully matte set lip.

Repurchase? Yes

Soap & Glory Clean on Me

Lovely shower gel that smells amazing! Have bought this many times and will continue to.

Repurchase? Yes

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter

Again, another product that smells amazing and is a cult classic.

Repurchase? Yes

Got 2 B Volumising Spray Mousse

This was ok but I didn’t see the difference between this and a normal mousse. With this one, it’s designed to be sprayed directly into the roots of the hair but to be honest, it dispenses too much product and I ended up spraying it into my hands and using it as a normal mousse.

Repurchase? No

That’s all for this post! What products have you used up recently? Take care and I’ll be back next week ❤

Latest In Beauty Build Your Own Beauty Box April 2017

Hello everyone and welcome back. I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather we have in the U.K. at the moment! Today I am sharing with you my selection of goodies I chose for my build your own beauty box from Latest In Beauty.

Latest In Beauty let’s you build your own customised beauty box every month so you are in control of what you get. Gone are the days of disappointing products that you end up giving away! I personally have the 6 product box that costs £15 but you can also get a 3 products for £9 or 9 products for £18. You don’t get a pretty box but to be honest, I find the packaging of standard boxes a bit wasteful. Enough rambling, let’s get into the products.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist 15ml

Jurlique rosewater balancing mist

I’ve never tried anything from Jurlique before and this is a product I’ve heard lots of good things about. I’m not the biggest fan of rose scented products but this doesn’t smell synthetic. I use this on days where I wear BB cream and powder foundation as a final step to stop my skin looking so powdery. It is nice but I can’t see me buying the full size as it costs around £28!

Eucerin Intensive Lip Balm 10ml (full size)

Eucerin intensive lip balm

You all know how much I love lip balms. This is not too thick but it does last a decent amount of time. It does a good job of moisturising the lips and is one that I would probably buy again.

Nanshy Kabuki Brush

Nanshy kabuki brush

I chose this as I wanted a new brush to use for powder foundation and I really like it! It’s dense enough to pack on coverage but it’s also super soft and blends in the powder really easily. Very impressed with this.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer 30ml

Bumble and bumble hairdressers invisible oil

Never tried anything from this brand before, this product is a heat protectant that tames frizz and also adds UV protection. I’ve not tried it out yet but it smells really good and I’m looking forward to seeing what it can do for my wild hair!

Nails Inc White Horse Street 14ml (full size)

Nails inc White horse street

This is a really interesting colour, it’s an off white that looks a bit grey but also a bit lavender. It goes on really well and you get full opaque colour in 2 coats, I do find that lighter colours can take more than 2 coats to get opaque colour but not with this one.

The White Company Seychelles Hand Cream

The white company Seychelles hand cream

Ok, so I did not need more hand cream but I’ve not tried anything from The White Company before so I thought I would give it a go. And I am so glad I did! This smells incredible! It’s like being on a sunny beach holiday and it’s not sickly or overly sweet. I can’t describe scents at all but if you get a chance to smell this, do it! Will be buying this in full size and more from the range.

That’s all my products for this month. I love all of them and can see myself repurchasing most of them when they run out. I also got 2 perfume samples to try out, one of them isn’t for me but who doesn’t love perfume samples?? Take care and I’ll be back next week ❤
