Bourjois X Influenster Kissmass Collection

I could not contain my excitement when I received the email from Influenster to say I’d been selected to receive the Bourjois Kissmass Collection! This is the first time I’d ever been sent anything substantial to review and I’m so grateful to receive it!

Bourjois Kissmass

There were two options that you could receive, one being the metallic lip creams and the other matte lipsticks. I received the matte range which I was happy with as I’m not a big fan of metallic lips on me.

Starting off with base we have the Healthy Mix Foundation. I used to use this a while ago before I moved onto high end foundations as my skin was being awkward. It’s still a lovely foundation, leaves your skin looking like skin and gives a decent medium coverage. The staying power isn’t as long as I’d like it to be but I think that it would be long enough for most people (I have very long days at work!)

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Sticking with base I got the corresponding Healthy Mix Concealer. I’ve never used this before and I really like it. It’s got a good about of coverage for the under eyes and doesn’t look cakey and thankfully doesn’t crease!

Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer

Lastly for the face there is the iconic Little Round Pot Blush in the shade Rose D’Or. This quite a nostalgic product for me as it’s the first blush I ever bought, even the shade is the same! I don’t use blush that much anymore as I have rosacea I think that it can accentuate more. This formula is really nice, it’s smooth and isn’t so heavily pigmented that you end up looking like a clown!

Bourjois little round pot blush

Onto the eyes we have the Smoky Stories Quad in the shade Brilliant Prunette which contains three satin eyeshadows and a glitter top coat in plumy purple shades. This is a pretty quad but it is lacking mattes so you do need some supporting shades. The glitter isn’t the finest that I’ve used but it gives a really pretty effect when you lightly dab it on the centre of the lid.

Bourjois smoky stories quad

I can’t say I have ever tried any mascaras from Bourjois so I was happy to get the Push Up Volume Glamour in Wonder Black. It’s quite a wet formula so I think I’ll like this more when it’s dried out a little. Because it’s quite wet I found it more lengthening than voluminous but I think it’s got potential.

Bourjois push up volume glamour mascara

Moving onto the star of the show, I was sent three shades of the new-ish Rouge Velvet The Lipstick. I received the shades Magni-fig, Berry Formidable and Brunette. If you’ve read my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love the Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks so I was really excited to receive these.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet the Lipstick

My first impression of these wasn’t great, they felt so light and like a balm so I didn’t think they would have any staying power at all, but I was wrong. They are very light when you apply but they dry down pretty quickly to a highly pigmented matte that stays on for hours. These even lasted through eating and still didn’t budge. Really not what I was expecting from first application. The shades I was sent are gorgeous autumn winter colours but I need to get some of the nude shades for more everyday wear.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet the Lipstick swatches

Absolutely love this selection of goodies and they have made their way into my everyday rotation and I want to try more products from the range. Big thank you to Bourjois and Influenster for letting me try them. Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤ SA

October 2017 Empties

Hi everyone! Today I have a pretty late October empties to share with you.

October 2017 Favourites

Pixi Glow Tonic

First up we have the cult classic, Pixi Glow Tonic. I think I bought this in January and it has lasted ages. Love this product, find it very comparable to Alpha H Liquid Gold but cheaper. It helps fade marks left from spots and just makes my skin look much fresher the following day.

Repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory The Rushower

I’m not a huge fan of dry shampoo as I find that my hair still looks greasy after using. This one is pretty good and doesn’t leave any white marks in the hair. It smells gorgeous too which is a bonus.

Repurchase? Yes.

L’Oréal Fine Flowers Gel Cream Wash

I bought this on a whim thinking it would be nice and moisturising in the colder months. Unfortunately it wasn’t and I found it very basic. It lathered up more than I wanted it to as I was wrongly under the impression it was more of a cream cleanser than a foaming cleanser.

Repurchase? No.

Gatineau Floracil Plus

This product I got in a Tili box and it’s a decent eye makeup remover. I didn’t like that it kind of made my vision a little blurry after using and I didn’t find it as effective as using a cleansing oil. To remove mascara and eyeliner you have to use a lot of this product which was a little disappointing.

Repurchase? No.

October 2017 Favourites

L’Oréal Paradise Extatic Mascara

Loved this mascara. It has so much hype in the beauty community and I can say, the hype is for good reason. It gives so much volume and length without feeling crispy and heavy. I didn’t think I was going to like it as for years I have used plastic bristled brushes but this has changed my mind!

Repurchase? Yes.

L’Oréal La Touche Magique Concealer

This concealer is nice, but it doesn’t offer as much coverage as I want. It’s lovely and brightening for the undereyes but if you have quite a lot of darkness, it won’t cover up too much.

Repurchase? Possibly.

L’Oréal Superstar Eyeliner

Can you tell that L’Oréal is my favourite high street brand?? I am one of the few that prefers felt tip pen liquid liners and this one is good and does the job. It has a slightly more glossy finish than most but overall is a decent liner.

Repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel Brow This Way

I’ve got through so many of these over the years. It’s a good cheap and cheerful brow gel but I have found that the Barry M one has a smaller brush so that’s my new go to.

Repurchase? No.

Rimmel 60 Second Shine Top Coat

This went gloopy very quickly and didn’t dry down fully for hours. I’d think it was dry after say 2 hours and I’d go to bed and then wake up the next morning with hair marks all over my nails.

Repurchase? No.

October 2017 Favourites

Soap & Glory Fizz-A-Ball Original Pink

I’ve recently started having more baths to help me wind down more when I’m feeling very stressed. This bath bomb is gorgeous! It turns the water pink and glittery and is just what you need when you’re feeling blah!

Repurchase? Yes.

Lastly I have a couple of sachets of items I’ve used up this month. Firstly we have the Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum which I hate so say that I love! It’s so pricey but when I used it at night, I woke up the next morning and would always have a good skin day! I’m planning on picking this up in the January sales.

The last sachet product is the Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask which I find very comparable to the Oskia Renaissance Mask so I will be getting this in the full size.

Thanks for reading, what products have you used up lately! Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤ SA

Beauty Pie Haul 2

Today I have for you what I have bought in month 2 of my Beauty Pie subscription.
Beauty Pie brings you high end products at factory prices. You do have to subscribe and pay a membership fee of £10.00 a month (for a minimum of 3 months) and that is what unlocks the factory pricing.

Beauty Pie Haul
The first 2 items I got were things I needed, Superbrow Precision Pencil and Precision Eyeliner Marker. The brow pencil was a steal at £2.09. I had been buying the Urban Decay pencil at £16.00 for a while and then went onto NYX at £8.00 and I can say that the Beauty Pie pencil is just as good. It’s a standard, twist up micro fine pencil with a spooly on one end. It’s very easy to apply and the colour lasts all day.

Superbrow precision pencil
Liquid liner is a staple in my makeup routine and this one is stunning. It’s super black, really easy to apply and again, it lasts all day. This cost £1.48, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an eyeliner for less than a fiver!

Precision eyeliner marker
Moving onto the things I didn’t need… lip products are the thing I always buy that totally aren’t necessary! I have so many lip products of similar hues but different formulas.

I do dabble with liquid lipsticks but can’t say I am a die hard fan of them. Beauty pie’s liquid lips cost £4.11 and I loved the look of the shade Charm Inc so into the basket it went. It’s a proper liquid lip in the sense that it fully dries down matte and because of this, it can make the lips feel dry and tight. It’s got great pigmentation and lasts a really long time. I do have to top up with lip balm frequently so it doesn’t last too long on me.

Fantasticolour liquid lipstick
Another lip product I picked up is the Powderstick Matte Lip Crayon in the shade Nude To Go which cost £3.15. This is more my cup of tea for a lip product. It’s matte but because it has a powdery velvet finish, it doesn’t look as dry and is more forgiving on lip lines. Longevity is a few hours which is pretty standard for a lipstick. Will be getting more shades of this!

Powderstick matte lip crayon
Lastly, as I was so impressed by the Wondercolour Cream Shadow Sticks, I picked up another one for more everyday wear in the shade Beige Bombshell. These are fab for quick and easy makeup. They last a really decent amount of time for a cream eyeshadow and they only cost £2.30.

Wondercolour cream shadow stick
The cost of all 5 items including picking and despatch was just over £19.00. Even with the subscription fee, I could not get all of these items for £29.00. If you buy a lot of beauty products I do recommend trying Beauty Pie out. I think with my next shopping allowance I’m going to try out some of their skincare as I’ve seen that they are launching retinol products next week!

Have you tried Beauty Pie? Let me know your thoughts. Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤ SA

Collective Haul November 2017

Hi everyone, hope you are all well? Is it too early to already be excited about Christmas?? I’m currently making lists of ideas of what to buy people but keep getting distracted as I would like most of the things for myself! Anyway, I thought I’d share with you my assortment of goodies I’ve bought myself recently as I’ve not written a haul post in a while.
Starting off with skincare, I’m back to using my beloved Vichy Pureté Thermale Cleansing Oil. I absolutely love this cleansing oil, it removes all makeup, (including eye makeup) so easily and is by far my favourite product to use for a first cleanse.

Vichy cleansing oil and masks
Staying with Vichy, I’d seen a while ago that they launched masks but I never got round to buying any. They have however now started selling them in sachets so you can try them out before buying the full size. I bought the Double Glow Peel Mask and the Quenching Mineral Mask. I’ve already tried out one of the Glow masks and it’s the closest thing I have tried to the Oskia Renaissance Mask. It’s similar in texture and also performance but so much cheaper so I will be buying this one in full size.

Moving onto makeup, I was in need of mascara and L’Oréal is by far my favourite brand. I picked up the False Lash Sculpt which I know and love and also False Lash Architect which is a new one for me. I’ve been using the Architect over the past week and I really like it. It’s a dryer formula which I prefer and it builds up loads of volume.

Collective Haul November 2017
As there was a 3 for 2 on in Boots (and I was drawn in by the packaging!) I picked up one of the new Lip Kits in the shade Paint it Peach which contains an Infallible Matte Lip Paint in the shade Babe-In and an Infallible Lip Liner in the shade Gone With The Nude. I’d not tried any of these products before and have been pleasantly surprised by them. The lip paint is a matte lip cream that doesn’t fully dry down and is beautifully pigmented and the lip liner is so creamy and easy to apply. I really like the shades but it they had a touch more pink in them, they would be perfect.

Lastly for makeup, we have the Barry M Take A Brow. Nothing too exciting, it’s a clear brow gel with a nice small brush that suits my thin brows.

Finally, we have a few body products. Rituals had got to be my favourite brand for pampering body care so I’ve got the Foaming Shower Gel in Yogi Flow. The scent of this range is gorgeous and I have the gift set on my Christmas wish list.

Collective Haul November 2017
The last product for this post is one of the new Soap & Glory Fizz-A-Ball Bath Bombs. I actually won this from Soap & Glory on a Facebook competition and even though I’m not a huge bath person, I do sometimes enjoy a bath when I’m having a stressful time at work.

Thanks for reading guys, let me know what you’ve been treating yourself to lately. Take care and I’ll be back soon, SA ❤

Beauty Pie Great Skin Foundation Review

Regular readers will know that I have such a struggle with foundation. A few years ago I stopped using cheaper, high street brands for foundation as I had found that they always separated on my skin and just didn’t look good at all. So I moved onto high end foundation, spending £30 a bottle and most of them worked great.
When I was first looking through the Beauty Pie website, I was really intrigued by the foundation. It has an RRP of £30 and costs around £5.00 (prices vary on shades) for members so for a fiver, I had to try it out.

Working out a shade was a little difficult as Beauty Pie is quite a new brand, there aren’t really any swatches online, it’s not on any foundation shade finder sites and as they’re online only, there are no stores to go to. They now have sample selection pots you can buy for £2.00. I just went straight in and bought shade 75 vanilla which is a light shade with a neutral undertone.

Here’s a snip of Beauty Pie’s claims – “Beautiful luminous matte finish, medium, sculpting, flawless coverage, light reflecting soft-focusing pigments, oil free”

I have to say, I was really sceptical when this arrived, I really didn’t think it would live up to what I need a foundation to do.

Beauty Pie great skin foundation
The packaging is simplistic, it’s the standard black and white outer box and the bottle is a frosted glass with a black pump, yes, even something that cost a fiver has a pump!

The product itself is quite thin in texture and is non fragranced. It provides a good medium coverage that is buildable, it’s not quite full coverage but it’s great for everyday. It’s blends so easily and it does give a matte finish that’s not flat, and it doesn’t look like you’re wearing a mask.

The longevity of this foundation is amazing, during the week I put my makeup on at around 7am and I don’t get home until 6:30pm and this lasts all day without separating at all. It shows a little wear in my smile lines but it’s nothing that makes me think oh my god, what’s happened to my face!

Beauty Pie great skin foundation
I am so happy with this foundation, I find it comparable in finish and longevity to my lovely Lancôme Teint Idole but so much cheaper! I didn’t think that I would like this as much as I do and this is now replacing all my other foundations.

Thanks for reading, take care and I’ll be back soon. SA ❤

September Empties

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. Today I have for you a very much over due empties post. I haven’t written one of these in such a long time so I have actually thrown away quite a few things but here is what I have used up throughout September and I plan on starting to do these posts again monthly.

September 2017 empties

Vichy Pureté Thermale Micellar Water

I’m having a micellar water phase at the moment as I have gone off using oil for my first cleanse. This one is really nice, removes makeup pretty well and doesn’t sting the eyes.

Repurchase? Probably

La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Cleansing Cream

I bought this as I thought it was a cream cleanser but it’s not. It is quite creamy but it foams up slightly. I did like this even though it wasn’t what I was expected it to be. I found it quite gentle and helped to give my skin a deep clean. Since I’ve stopped using it, I have noticed that my skin is becoming a little congested so I’ll be buying this again soon!

Repurchase? Yes – soon!

Korres Bergamot Pear Shower Gel

I love the smell of this shower gel. It’s quite pricey but I bought a twin pack that cost the same as one on its own. It isn’t anything special but it’s nice if you like to spend a little more on body wash.

Repurchase? Maybe.

Bed Head Urban Antidotes 2 Shampoo & Conditioner

My hairdresser always uses these products on my hair and I adore the scents so I treated myself to these. I know the price puts people off but I bought these in October / November last year and I finished using them around August time so they really are worth the investment! If you’ve never used Bed Head products, they smell incredible and I have found them all very effective.

Repurchase? Yes.

Fudge Iced Raspberry & Vanilla Styling Mousse

I really wasn’t very wowed by this product. I bought it to try and tame my flyaways but it didn’t really do anything, it didn’t even add volume. The scent wasn’t even anything special either but that may be as I’m more used to using Bed Head products as they are heavily fragranced.

Repurchase? No.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid

Hands down my favourite moisturiser. It’s a light, basic moisturiser that just gets the job done. Now we are moving into the colder months I’m going to be moving back to the Ultra version of this as it’s a bit more dense and helps with the dehydration I get from central heating and air conditioning.

Repurchase? Yes in the spring / summer.

September 2017 empties
La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Eye

I wasn’t very impressed with this. It’s a light gel that has a slight tacky feeling after applying but it takes so long to sink in and it didn’t really hydrate the eye area much at all. I used it up but it’s not suited for the colder weather.

Repurchase? No.

Oskia Renaissance Mask

I was gutted when I used this up! It’s s beautiful resurfacing mask and the scent makes you feel like you’re in a spa at home. The full size is so expensive, I don’t know if I can justify buying it but I’m keeping my eyes peeled for more sample sizes!

Repurchase? Maybe.

Elemis Gentle Foaming Facial Wash

Elemis make beautiful skincare and this wash is so gentle on the skin. It doesn’t have much of a scent and has a very little amount of foam to it which is what I very much prefer now.

Repurchase? Maybe.

Lanolips 101 Ointment Strawberry

I had been using a La Roche-Posay lip balm for a while but I was getting though them so quickly (like just over a month) so I decided that I needed a replacement. Lanolips is my saviour lil balm, it’s so thick and nourishing. You can apply a little throughout the day and I like to apply a thicker layer, like a mask, overnight.

Repurchase? Already have.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra

This product has been on my blog so much! My all time favourite Foundation. Great coverage with great staying power, it’s the only foundation that lasts on me all day and actually still looks good by the end of the day.

Repurchase? Not at the moment as I have quite a few to go through.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Finally I have found a replacement to the Urban Decay Brow Beater! And this one is literally half the price. Love this brow pencil, very fine and precise and the colour lasts all day.

Repurchase? Already have.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

The best thing about this product has got to be the brush, it’s a pen but with bristles. I can’t find another one like it, if you know of one that is cheaper, let me know!

Repurchase? Yes.

L’Oréal False Lash Sculpt Mascara

L’Oréal make the best masacras in my opinion. This one has an interesting brush that takes a little getting used to but it makes my lashes look huge!

Repurchase? Yes.

That’s everything guys, what have you been using up lately? Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤

September 2017 Favourites

Hello everyone, today I am sharing you my late September favourites. I know everyone says this, but where has this year gone!? Already planning my Christmas shopping and trying to decide what beauty advent calendar I want. Anyway, there’s not too much this month so let’s get into it.

September 2017 favourites

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

Elemis papaya enzyme Peel

I’ve had my eye on this for a while so was really happy to receive it in the last Tili box to try it out before committing to the full size. Absolutely love this, it has a good tingle to it and makes my skin look and feel amazing the day after. It’s been helping to reduce my acne scarring and smells beautiful.

Buxom Customisable Eyeshadow Bar

Buxom Eyeshadow bar

I missed this on my last favourites but it has become my eyeshadow staple! This is really the only eyeshadow I have been using since I bought it a few months ago as I have only been sticking to the same eye makeup lately (boring I know!) the shadows are well pigmented and last a really long time even without primer. I did a full review on this product which I will link below.

Look Good Feel Better Eye Shading Brush

Look good feel better brush

LGFB are a brilliant company, they share a percentage of the RRP to a charity supporting women with the visible effects of cancer and on top of that, their products are awesome. This brush is great for packing shadow on the lids and I find also reduces fallout as the brush holds the shadow well. It took a little getting used to using as I am more accustomed to shorter handled brushes but it’s worth getting used to as the brush is brilliant.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Liquid Lip – Juju

Bare minerals gen nude liquid lip juju

Another product I received in the last Tili box, this liquid lip is by far the best I have used. I have phases of liking and disliking liquid lips but this one is so comfortable! It takes a while to dry and it doesn’t fully dry to the point where you feel like your lips are going to crack off! The colour is a stunning mauve nude and I really want to try out other shades from the range.

Rituals Miracle Scrub

Rituals Miracle scrub

I think Rituals make my favourite pampering products. This is a hand scrub which is very much needed now the weather has changed. My hands are getting incredibly dry and chapped at the moment and I have been using this a few times a week to help make them look a little better. It has a high oil content so it moisturises while it scrubs and like all Rituals products, smells beautiful.

That’s everything for my September favourites. What are your favourite products this month? Let me know in the comments. Take care and I’ll be back soon ❤
